Feeding your carnivore aka your dog
Read Below for more
We strongly believe in feeding a raw species appropriate diet to all of our dogs. Diet is one of the most important parts of a dogs health, fully controlled by us, so make sure to feed for longevity!
There are many benefits to feeding a raw diet, but we must make sure it's balanced. We highly recommend it to all our puppy homes as well, and preference is given to those homes! Diet is a big component to our program
It is very important to know how to feed a balanced diet first before feeding raw. But when fed correctly, it's the best diet for your dog! Natural, whole food, limited ingredients, fresh, biologically appropriate. Your dogs overall health depends on it, which means less vet bills for you! Stool will be much less smaller, and less smelly. Hair coat will be shiny and soft, with less doggy smell. Raw bones are a natural tooth brush, keeping those teeth clean! Your dog will also have good energy level overall. Diet is an important factor in every species, therefore it is so important to feed our dogs a quality diet. Kibble has many issues, and we don't recommend feeding it, but do your best! A raw diet does require more prep time and space (freezer space!) but if you get good sources it won't cost you more than premium kibble. Once you start feeding raw and it becomes a routine it's fun and simple!
When you first start feeding raw you want to fed 2-3% of your dogs ideal body weight. Some dogs need less and some need much more to maintain a ideal body weight, so adjust as needed! Check out this for help on how much to feed your dog. Age, energy level, lifestyle, pregnancy or illness can all impact your dogs diet, make sure to feed accordingly! The formula to follow is 80% muscle meat, 10% bone and 10% organ (5% must be liver). which you will do over time, it doesn't have to be for each meal. Now for the diet itself you will start off slowly with one protein, then eventually have as much variety as possible. Every protein and even body part of an animal will vary in nutrients, so variety in their diet makes sure your dog gets a good range of them! Plus always try to feed local and farm grown as much as you can!
Typical items we feed, variety!
